Colour Psychology – The Transformative Power of Colour

Thursday 30th April 2026
9.30am-3.30pm

Immerse yourself in the fascinating world of colour and discover how it can profoundly shape our emotions, behaviours, and overall sense of wellbeing.

In this insightful workshop, you’ll uncover the symbolic meanings behind different colours and explore how they influence our physiological responses and emotional states.

We’ll delve into colour psychology and its therapeutic applications—how the mindful use of colour can restore balance, nurture calm, and even inspire joy. You’ll also gain exclusive insight into the colour concepts behind The Wellness Centre and The Falcon, both designed with biophilic principles that harmonise interiors with Castle Ashby’s beautiful natural surroundings. Through visual examples, Jackie will show how nature and colour merge to create soothing, restorative environments that support emotional health.

Alongside this exploration, you’ll enjoy:

  • A guided talk on the colour wheel and how to apply it to enhance spaces and moods
  • A private tour of The Wellness Centre and The Falcon, where design and wellbeing meet in harmony
  • A tranquil Forest Therapy Walk through the gardens of Castle Ashby, led by Tracy Northampton, inviting reflection, connection, and grounding in nature

Jackie Blakey

Jackie Blakey

Jackie is known for creating relaxed, well considered, stylish and timeless interiors.  She often uses colour and biophilic attitudes to provoke a sense of wellbeing in the spaces she creates.

After 21 years of corporate life at British Airways, Jackie decided to follow her passion for interiors and embarked on a major career change and enrolled at the prestigious KLC Design College to gain a recognised interior design qualification enabling her to work within the interior design industry. It was during that time that she developed a keen interest in colour psychology and went on to combine this skill in her work as an interior designer who adopts biophilic design principles.

Several years of working as an Interior Designer in the Cotswolds followed, where she immersed herself in numerous residential projects both in the UK and abroad and regularly gave talks on interior design and colour theory. That expansive design knowledge, coupled with her customer service experience, led to her setting up her own design studio where she is now able to create inspired interiors alongside offering a comprehensive service that helps her clients navigate through what can often be an overwhelming process. She is responsible for the interior design of both the Falcon Hotel and The Wellness Centre and continues to assist with design led projects on the Castle Ashby Estate.
