The picturesque village of Castle Ashby offers the unique opportunity of relaxing rural shopping. Browse around the interesting variety of shops in the old converted farm buildings where you will find special gifts at LimeBlue, artworks and antiques, crafts or clothing for any occasion. And The Deli is the perfect place for local foodie finds, and other farm shop essentials.

The renowned Castle Ashby Gardens were designed by Capability Brown, who is remembered as “the last of the great English 18th-century artists to be accorded his due” and “England’s greatest gardener”. The gardens feature an impressive Arboretum, formal Italian gardens and a menagerie with rabbits, monkeys and meerkats.
As a sensory activity, clay work is immersive, focusing thoughts on keeping control of the shape of the pot. Producing something that expresses who you are – its form shaped entirely by your own imagination.
Our friends at Swanspool Ceramics offer an open-access pottery studio with state-of-the-art equipment and resources for potters of all levels.
Private sessions lasts two hours and allows enough time to create two pieces, which are then fired and glazed. From £60 per person.
Yardley Arts is a not-for-profit arts organisation that exists to create greater connectivity and improve lives through the development of our community’s artistic talents. Located in the neighbouring village of Yardley Hastings, hotel guests are welcome to join one of their classes covering sculpture, painting, jewellery making and other creative expressions.
Alternatively, during the warmer months, we can arrange drawing lessons in the hotel gardens with a private tutor and all materials supplied. Contact us for more information.
As the home of British motorsport since 1950, the Silverstone race circuit is a popular place to visit. If you’re looking for hotels in Northampton, we’re just a 30-minute-drive from Silverstone. As well as motorsport, the venue also hosts race track experiences, seasonal events and is also home to the Silverstone Interactive Museum.
